Fall Maintenance Reminder

Dear Brookhaven Homeowners,

As we approach fall, the Board would like to remind homeowners of exterior maintenance items to address.  Below are items that seem to be overlooked this time of year. Thanks to those who continue to maintain their homes and lots throughout the year!

  • All exterior improvements must be approved by the Architectural Committee before work begins. Requests (ARC/RFM) can be submitted on the Cusick website (www.cusickcompany.comprior to making any changes to the exterior of your property or lot. **ARC approval is required before removing trees.
  • Treat lawns and planter beds now to prevent weeds in the spring.
  • Regularly collect and remove fallen leaves.
  • All grass clippings/landscape debris should be cleared from sidewalks and streets.
  • Please trim any overgrown vegetation (trees and shrubs). Ensure they are not encroaching on streets, sidewalks and walkways.
  • Remove and replace any dead or dying vegetation (plants, trees, shrubs).
  • Ensure your home’s exterior is maintained properly, free of dirt/debris. Ensure shutters, doors and metal roofs are not fading or missing. This must be completed by September 15, 2024.
  • Ensure mailboxes are not faded or leaning by September 15, 2024. Replace or paint missing numbers and flags.
  • Basketball goal backboards are to be perpendicular to the primary street of your home. Ensure backboards and nets are maintained.
  • All play equipment is to be located a) Within the extended right and left sides of the house; b) In the rear yard; c) Within a screened and fenced area of the rear of the house, if yard is fenced; and d) Does not exceed fifteen (15) feet in height and will have a minimum visual impact on adjacent properties. (If not within the above then you must submit an RFM/ARC.)
  • Contractor and vendor signs are prohibited. (Political signs can be displayed in an election year but no sooner than thirty (30) days prior to the election and removed within five (5) days after the election.)
  • Yard waste, trash & recycling containers should be placed out for pickup no earlier than 5PM the day before collection and must be stored in garages or behind approved screening and not be visible from the street or adjacent lot.
